Home Gardens are the way to go on Kauai. With the high cost of imported food, home gardens are picking up speed. They are easy to maintain and food grows quite easily here on the island. Success in lettuce, peppers, eggplants, squash, tomatoes, a variety of herbs have been our best growers. The hardest part is in the beginning digging the beds and preparing the soil. After that, its just popping in starter plants or seeds and enjoying seeing the plants come alive. And of course, eating what you personally grew and giving some away is the best reward of all.
